As the state works to execute the program, Odisha is now producing Ayushman Bharat health insurance cards, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Friday. With the deployment anticipated by the end of this month, the program will touch more than 3.5 crore individuals.
The Central and Odisha governments recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi, paving the path for the scheme’s execution. Ayushman Bharat and the state-run Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) will combine to give recipients a single, unified health card for easy access to medical services.
Each qualified family would receive Rs 5 lakh in health insurance coverage year under the plan, and Odisha women recipients will receive Rs 10 lakh annually. Secondary and tertiary care hospital stays at both public and private empanelled facilities throughout India would be covered by the insurance.
Pre-hospitalization charges (up to three days) and post-hospitalization costs (up to 15 days), including follow-up treatment, prescription drugs, and diagnostics, will be covered by beneficiaries’ cashless access to healthcare. All pre-existing conditions will be covered, and there are no limitations on the size, age, or gender of the family. Nearly 2,000 medical operations in 27 specialties are covered under Ayushman Bharat, including major surgery like knee replacements and bypass surgeries. It covers costs for prescription drugs, diagnostic tests, doctor visits, hospital stays, and surgeries.
The project would improve Odisha’s healthcare system by guaranteeing ongoing medical care for older residents over 70 and granting access to treatment at more than 29,000 facilities throughout India.
