The famous Dharmapada Award will be given to renowned painter Bansidhar Pratihari in 2022, the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi announced on Saturday. The winner will receive a citation and a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh.Along with Pratihari, the Akademi will honour famous sculptor and painter Brajabandhu Mishra, master of palm leaf engraving Laxmidhar Subudhi, master of pattachitra Bhramarabar Naik, master of painting Ramesh Kumar Behera, and master of stone sculptor Keshav Chandra Maharana.
Each of the artists selected for the honour will get a citation, a copper plaque, a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
On February 6, a ceremony to honour the winners will take place in Sanskruti Bhawan’s conference room.Since 1987, the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi has granted its highest honour, the Dharmapada Award, to a person for their lifetime accomplishments and contributions to the advancement of sculpture and painting.
