Along with three other candidates, all from the CPI(M), Md. Salim is named by Left Front as the candidate from Murshidabad for the Lok Sabha elections. Md Salim, the West Bengal secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), was selected by the Left Front on Saturday to represent Murshidabad in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to officials.As part of the Left Front’s second list, the names of three additional candidates were revealed in addition to Salim. Alokesh Das from Ranaghat, Sukriti Ghosal from Burdwan-Durgapur, and Shyamali Pradhan from Bolpur seat are among the other individuals named.
All four of the candidates are CPI(M) members, according to Left Front leader Biman Bose, who revealed the names at a news conference. The Left Front declared candidates for 16 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats on March 14. Of them, 13 were from the CPI(M), and one each from the Forward Bloc, Communist Party of India, and Revolutionary Socialist Party.Salim served two terms as a member of the Lok Sabha and twelve years as a representative of the CPIM in the Rajya Sabha. He ran from Raiganj in 2019 but lost. He ran for the Hooghly assembly seat in Chanditala but lost in the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.
