In a major development for eastern India’s renewable energy sector, the Odisha Cleantech Association (OCA) was formally launched today, establishing the state’s first unified industry body dedicated to accelerating the transition to clean energy and sustainable technologies.

The launch, marked by an inception General Body Meeting at the Chandaka Industrial Estate, brought together over 50 leading cleantech professionals and organizations. The new body aims to act as a bridge between the industry and the government, fostering a collaborative ecosystem to support Odisha’s ambitious climate goals.
Unified Voice for a Green Future
The OCA has been formed to break existing silos within the sector, uniting stakeholders from diverse fields including solar, wind, green hydrogen, waste-to-energy, electric mobility, and environmental engineering.
During the meeting, the association elected its inaugural leadership team. Shri Prasant Panigrahi, a veteran in the solar industry, was elected as the President. He will be supported by Shri Satya Bhusan Rath (Vice President), Shri Sharthak Shankar Bhagat (Secretary), Capt. Managovinda Mishra (Treasurer), and Smt. Sai Krishna Mohanty (Joint Secretary).
”The formation of OCA marks a significant milestone in uniting industry voices,” said a spokesperson for the association. “We are driven by a collective resolve to bridge long-standing gaps and build a trusted platform that supports both industry growth and the state’s equitable energy transition.”
Strategic Objectives
The association outlined a comprehensive roadmap to support Odisha’s aspirations of becoming a clean energy hub in Southeast Asia. Key objectives include:
- Policy Advocacy: Working with regulators to craft enabling policies for green industries.
- Innovation & R&D: Facilitating technology transfer and supporting local innovation.
- Capacity Building: Bridging the skills gap through targeted training programs.
- Consumer Awareness: Sensitizing utilities and end-consumers on sustainable energy choices.
- Climate Finance: Facilitating access to funding for green projects and startups.
Alignment with State Goals
The launch of the OCA comes at a pivotal time. Odisha has recently intensified its focus on renewable energy, targeting 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and positioning itself as a major manufacturing hub for green hydrogen and energy storage components.

Industry experts have welcomed the move, noting that a dedicated industry body will be instrumental in navigating the complex regulatory landscape and attracting investment. The OCA is also expected to play a key role in the upcoming Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS 2025), scheduled for December in Puri, by representing the collective interests of the state’s domestic cleantech sector.
With the state government already championing energy reforms, the Odisha Cleantech Association is poised to become a critical catalyst in driving the region toward a climate-resilient, Net-Zero future.
