Celebrities were criticised by Abhijeet Bhattacharya for merely posing as “desh bhakts (patriots)”. Without naming them, he used the example of a well-known celebrity couple.Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has gained notoriety over the years for his criticism of Shah Rukh Khan, his purported sexual harassment claims, and his anti-Pakistan stance. When asked how he handles the fallout from his previous controversy, Abhijeet said that he pays a price for being the only true “desh bhakt (patriot)” in Bollywood during a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble.
The singer remarked, “Ek hi line bolunga – ‘Don’t give your life, desh bhakti ke liye natak karo, lekin real mat bano’.” Sabse badi bewakoofi hai. Individuals are being paid; so-called desh bhakts (patriots) are among them. They get compensated; so much is evident from the fact that they get paid… Being the solitary desh bhakt from Bollywood came at a hefty cost (the worst advice being to appear to be a patriot instead of giving up on your life).
Abhijeet said, “Bollywood ka ek admi desh bhakt nahi hai,” without naming names. My husband is very strong, but my wife is really weak when it comes to parliament. Toh wife jis party mein hai woh party wale inko gali dete hai, Koi Ram Lalla ke darshan karne ja rahe hai. For this reason, paisa de ke kisi se desh bhakti mat karao. Maine paise kamaye hai aur desh bhakti mein bahut kuch gawaya hai. I am what I am now; hardly a single person in Bollywood identifies as a nationalist. Mein sirf gana gayunga aur logo ko entertain karunga.
