The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (BWSSB) head accountant, V Prashant Madal, was detained by the Lokayukta police after collecting money from a stranger at the Crescent Road office of his father, Channagiri BJP MLA K Madal Virupakshappa. The Ombudsman claimed that a complaint concerning Prashanth Madal, a Karnataka Administrative Services officer from the 2008 batch, requesting an 81 lakh rupee payoff from a contractor for a deal for raw materials required to produce soap and other detergents, had alerted them to the situation.
