CBI will look into Bengali convoy attack on Nisith Pramanik

The Calcutta high court bench reviewed a West Bengal police report on the assault on Union minister Nisith Pramanik before issuing its ruling on Tuesday. The attack on the convoy of Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik in Cooch Behar district on February 25 was ordered to be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday, according to attorneys present at the hearing.

After reviewing a West Bengal police report on the assault, the bench issued the ruling on Tuesday. The state police’s actions in this case did not satisfy the bench. Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, had petitioned the high court for a CBI investigation into the incident, saying that TMC workers had carried it out while the Union minister of state for home affairs was travelling to a political event in north Bengal. Pramanik was unharmed in the assault.
