A team with a mix of youngsters, experienced T20 Mavericks, and great intent has led the team to the crown and that too, without having dropped a game throughout the tournament. Once-in-a-generation teams do such ruthless things to ensure victory is theirs.
One can’t stop and admire how our boys and men ensured they played the game fairly, avoided the political drama that was being stirred by one of our countries in the neighbourhood and took a stance to avoid any contact with a nation sponsoring human devastation.
What Suryakumar and his team did on the field is nothing short of magical, and I feel this gives them great momentum for the upcoming World Cups. At crucial times across games, India’s bench strength was tested, and one admires how game situations were played and wins were eked out during dire straits.
In the matches which went to the wire, Suryakumar kept his troops cool and made them trust their instincts!
Among the chart-topping performances, Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav must be lauded for their match-winning performances and giving crucial starts and spinning a web respectively, around various opposition teams.
While there was much talk about whether the team should play against the neighbouring country that has laid a bed of thorns against peace and happiness in the Asian neighbourhood, it’s gladdening to see that the game of cricket won, India put up performances that will last in the minds of people who watched it live and on television/OTT.
Credit to the team management for sticking to their ground, getting the team composition right and mentoring these individuals to give their best game after game.
Congratulations, Indian Men’s Cricket Team. The nation celebrates with you, by lifting its spirits through spirited performances by your bunch of exceptional cricketers. Even our beloved Prime Minister was awed by your clinical performances.
There will be many more moments of glory, and ICC World Cup tournaments that our men’s and women’s teams will win in the future. Because, we are assured that the nation births champions who wear national pride in their hearts.
Celebrate and savour this victory. We await more laurels and silverware for the nation by the Indian teams who dare to dream and hustle hard to achieve and inspire us!
