The foundation stone for the comprehensive renovation of Maa Tarini Peetha in Ghatagaon in the Keonjhar district was laid by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The ambitious project, which is expected to cost more than Rs 312 crore, intends to preserve the holy hub’s cultural and spiritual core while modernizing it with top-notch amenities. It is anticipated that the development work will be finished in a year.
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi said, “I am blessed with the opportunity to serve Maa Tarini. My eight months of planning have now taken shape. The government will ensure that Maa Tarini’s seat becomes a world-class religious and tourist destination. There is no shortage of funds for this sacred project.”
In order to ensure that all pilgrimage amenities are made accessible in the area within the same period, the Chief Minister further stated that the more than Rs 312 crore approved for the beautification of Maa Tarini temple and its surrounding areas will be spent within a year. He also said that more money will be set aside to build homes for temple caretakers. The Works Department has been instructed to complete the required actions and provide the District Collector with a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
A 216-bed special pilgrims’ lodging, a pilgrim center, a lecture center, a food plaza, a watchtower, a market complex, a coconut shop, and a sizable prasad hall for 500 people are all included in the roughly 60-acre development project. Along with roads linking the temple, parking facilities, and beautifying of the four sacred ponds, the project will also include restroom blocks, a costume room, a shoe stand, a ticket counter, hand and foot washing facilities, and a driver’s restroom.
