Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Odisha government employees, raising the total DA to 55%. The hike will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2025, and employees will receive the revised amount as a cash benefit with their April salary.
The announcement comes as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to support its workforce amidst inflationary pressures and rising living costs. The last DA hike of 3% was implemented in October 2024, ahead of Diwali.
In a simultaneous move, the state government has also approved a 2% hike in dearness relief for pensioners, which will be reflected in their April pension.
According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the decision will benefit nearly 8.5 lakh state government employees and pensioners across Odisha.
This measure reflects the government’s continued commitment to welfare and financial security for its serving and retired workforce.
