The Coronavirus vaccination drive will soon kick start across Odisha to the public once the dose reaches the state. Director Professor CBK Mohanty, Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) informed that once the dose reaches the state the vaccination process will soon kick start.
After the after the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) granted emergency use approval to Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech for their respective vaccines, CBK Mohanty informed about the vaccination process in Odisha. He stated that the dry run is completed so now the COVID-19 vaccination will begin in Odisha as soon as the doses reach Odisha. Covishield will be used in the first phrase as per the latest decision taken by the authorities.
He further said that Serum Institute has over 5 crore vaccine doses but the State cannot procure it directly. The Central government will now decide regarding the number of dosed Odisha will get. Serum Institute has a production capacity of 5 million doses per month, so we will get vaccines in phased manner.
As per the reports the health workers will be vaccinated first and database of Covid Warriors and senior citizens will be prepared in the next phase. Niranjan Mishra, Director of Public Health Department informed that the DCGI has granted emergency approval to two institutes for the vaccine procedure. For the first phrase vaccination around 3.27 Lakh health workers has been prepared.
Ealier Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik talked to Serum institute of India CEO regarding the vaccine. He urged Adar Poonawalla to consider prioritising Odisha for the early Coronavirus vaccine.
