The 51st edition of India’s International Film Festival (IFFI) is all set to be held at Goa on 16th January, which will open with the Indian premier of the movie ‘Another Round’ by Thomas Vinterberg.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting shares the details of the event, which will kick start this month from January 16 to 24, 2021, in Goa.
The festival will witness the World Premiere of ‘Mehrunisa’ along with Sandeep Kumar’s movie, which starers Farrukh Jakkar. The festival will close on January 24, 2021, with the India Premiere of the historical drama ‘Wife of a Spy’ by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
In the event, Ollywood actors Bijay Mohanty and Ajit Das, along with filmmaker Manmohan Mahapatra will be felicitated because of their contribution to the Hollywood industry. Even Bijay Mohanty’s first Odia movie ‘Chilika Teerey’ will be screened at IFFI as a tribute to the evergreen actor.
Ajit Das’s movie ‘Tara,’ directed by Odia-Hindi actor and director Bijaya Jena, will also be screened on 20 January in the event. Even 20th January is the legendary actor’s birthday who is also a very popular theatre actor popularly known as ‘Hakim Babu.’
Manmohan Mohapatra’s last film, ‘Bhija Matira Swarga,’ will also be screened at IFFI Goa. Mohapatra is an eight-time National award winner who was also felicitated with Padma Shri.
Unfortunately, all the three personalities passed away last year, where Bijay Mohanty died in July following a prolonged illness. Das breathed his last in September while Mahapatra left for his heavenly abode in January.
For the first time, this edition is organized in a hybrid model and will comprise online and in-person experiences. The festival will be loaded with a line-up of famous movies with a total of 224 films from across the globe screened, which includes 21 non-feature films and 26 feature films under the Indian Panorama films section.
Even the registration for the festival has opened recently and is available till 10th January 2021. Interested applicants should be above 21 years of age as of 1st January 2021. And the applicant should have professional experience of covering major International Film Festivals such as IFFI for a minimum of three years.
