Cristiano Ronald claims “I was close to joining Man City”

by Subhechcha Ganguly

Cristiano Ronaldo, a famous football player and a striker for Manchester United, said last year that he was on the verge of joining fierce rivals Manchester City. Alex Ferguson, a former manager, asked him not to do it.

When Ronaldo went from Juventus in August 2021 on a two-year agreement, Ferguson convinced him to return to United for a second time. Ronaldo was going back to the team where he won eight major titles from 2003 to 2009.”Honest to God, it was close. They talked a lot about it, and (Manchester City manager Pep) Guardiola said two weeks ago, I believe, that they worked very hard to get me, Ronaldo said in an interview with Piers Morgan, the first half of which was broadcast on Wednesday.

However, as you are aware and as my past at Manchester United attests, your emotions and your feelings can make a difference. Naturally, Sir Alex Ferguson is also included. I was taken aback. But that was a deliberate choice. Because at that precise moment, the heart speaks loudly, the star footballer explained.Ronaldo added that Ferguson’s intervention gave him the final push to decide to join United.

“I believe that to be the key. It was the deciding factor at that very moment, however I am not loyal and wouldn’t claim Manchester City wasn’t close. Ferguson and I chatted. He informed me that it would be impossible for me to visit Manchester City, the speaker said.Notably, Ronaldo claimed that United had betrayed him and that he was being forced out of the club in the interview that was published on Sunday. The Portuguese forward also claimed that United disregarded him and lacked compassion when he arrived late for preseason practise and when his daughter had to be taken to the hospital in July.
