The Ministry of Coal reported a significant increase in overall coal output during the month of July 23, reaching 68.75 Million Tonne (MT), surpassing the numbers of 60.25 MT for the month of July 22, or a rise of 14.11%. With a surge of 13.41%, Coal India Limited’s (CIL) output grew to 53.63 MT in the month of July 23 as opposed to 47.29 MT in July 22. The cumulative coal output (up to July 23) increased by a whopping 292.12 MT (Provisional) in FY 23–24 compared to the same time in FY 22–23, when it increased by 9.84% to 265.94 MT.

In July ’23, coal shipment also saw a large increase, rising to a remarkable 74.33 MT, a growth rate of 10.19% higher than the 67.46 MT recorded in July 22. At the same time, Captive/others Coal dispatch shown exceptional performance, increasing by 17.83% to 11.48 MT on July 23 from 9.74 MT in July 22. The total coal dispatch (up to July 23) has increased significantly, from 291.59 MT during the same period in FY 22-23 to 314.30 MT (Provisional) in FY 23-24, representing an increase of 7.79%.
