Bhubaneshwar: Women are as capable as men of being effective political leaders. The same implied in their ability to rule the boardroom. Indian women have long been regarded as symbols of beauty, power, and wisdom. Indeed, the achievement of Indian women in different fields has demonstrated that they have a well-earned reputation. If you go deep inside, you’ll find that the active engagement of some highly focused and determined women has been one of the key contributions to Indian society. Women’s power has been the symbolic attribute of the changing times.
Damayanti Majhi, a 21-year-old candidate of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), is elected as the youngest Deputy Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). Majhi, who lives in the Balisahi slum area and is a student of Iconic Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, is also pursuing her M.Com. She was studiously chosen unopposed for the mayor post of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (Cuttack).
Dy Mayor(CMC) Damayanti has extended her gratitude to the people of the city. “It brings her great joy to have achieved this position of Deputy Mayor after so many struggles in her personal life as her top objective would always be aimed at solving numerous lagging problems”.
Speaking about the major slum issues, Majhi addressed that “She comes from a slum,” and she is familiar with the various issues that slum dwellers encounter, such as drinking water, drainage, and illumination. Therefore, it is paramount to put off a valiant role to overcome their difficulties.”
With that Manjhi expressed her immense gratifications to the BJD president, Mr. Naveen Patnaik, Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha BJD leaders, workers, and the residents of Ward 49 for electing her to the position of Deputy Mayor.
