The world’s most poisonous air has been recorded in the nation’s capital, which is well-known for its extreme air pollution levels. According to Bloomberg, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) reached a peak of 346 on Monday, making it the greatest of 110 cities worldwide that IQ Air monitors.
To put things in perspective, Mumbai, the financial hub of India, has an AQI of 177. The primary causes of Delhi-NCR’s dirty air include coal-fired power plants, construction, cars, and stubble burning.
The best months to breathe in Delhi are November through February. This time, the AQI reached a record high well in advance of the Diwali celebrations.
