Dengue Cases Decline In Bhubaneswar; Prevention Campaign On

Thanks to increased surveillance and awareness initiatives, the number of dengue cases in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area has dropped from the previous year. Volunteers have been putting forth endless effort since June 20, 2024, 850, educating the public about dengue prevention through door-to-door awareness campaigns and involving schoolchildren in the cause.

Programs against larvae have also been implemented, along with cleaning, bush trimming, and the extraction of larvae from sources. 241 of the 10,041 blood samples that were examined up till July 30, 2024, were found to be positive, according to BMC. Just 99 had required hospitalization, and 94 of them had made a full recovery and were back at home. Compared to last year, there are fewer cases of dengue. There were 190 dengue positive cases in 2024 compared to 509 cases in 2023.

BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil thanked the public for their sustained assistance in keeping the environment clean and healthy, attributing this success to greater awareness among the populace. To further battle dengue, hand-operated and auto-mandated smoking programs will be implemented in all wards starting on August 22. It is requested of the public to maintain a clean environment, refrain from littering, and observe one dry day per week.
