Dikhyaa Mohanty 
Prof. Umakanta Mohapatra, a renowned mathematician, educator, and former principal of Ravenshaw College, passed away here on Wednesday evening. Many of the pupils that Professor Mohapatra taught during his lengthy career expressed their sorrow for him as he approached his 94th birthday on Saturday. According to his relatives, his last ceremonies were held on Thursday night in Puri’s Swargadwar.
Prof. Mohapatra is a fluid dynamics specialist who earned his PhD from Utkal University. He began teaching at Ravenshaw in 1967, and in August 1982 he was promoted to professor and head of the mathematics department. Prof. Mohapatra was named the college’s principal in January 1986 and held the position until September 1988. Later on, he was appointed DPI-Schools, Odisha.
