Since the past decade, there have been lots of talk about the emergence and domination of the digital field in the world. The dominance factor may still have some time to conquer. However, this CO-VID pandemic has taught the world about the significance of the digital field. The digital sector is the future of economic prosperity. Interview Times had a great conversation with one of the pioneers of the Digital Marketing field, Vandana Kapur and got to know more insights about the boom of digitalization in India.

Can you brief about yourself to our readers?
Hi, I am Vandana Kapur, a digital marketing strategist. I have over 14 years of experience in the digital field. I did my undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK. Since my undergraduate days, I have preferred the marketing field by doing various free and paid internship jobs in Telesales, PR, and advertising.
As a person, I always love to do something or the other. Therefore, I vested in the internship during my summer and winter holidays in the UK, even though I was financially stable. I always want to explore various professional possibilities for enduring career growth.
On the personal front, I am a mother of two kids and blessed to have a great husband, in-laws, and family who empowers me to work unobstructedly by taking care of my kids.
When and how did the idea of opening your digital organization come to your mind?
I worked in a UK company for a year and then decided to shift to India again. Then, the company in the Uk allowed me to have my team set up and work from India. In India, it all went well for the next couple of years. However, after two years, the business liquidated.
Thereby, I started looking out for multiple jobs in India. Even though I got through to all the interviews, I was not satisfied with the work atmosphere. Moreover, there was a considerable gap in the tech culture in the UK and India. While in the UK, it was thriving, it was still in the nursing stage in India.
Therefore, I decided to do some freelancing stuff, and after my marriage, I worked at my husband’s firm for some time. When I thought I had grasped enough acquaintance about the Indian market, I decided to start my firm, The Channel.
How important you feel the emerge of Digital Marketing is in India?
It will not be correct to say that digital marketing is arising in India. It has already been amplified to a great extent. However, the problem with our country is many people are still unenlightened by the use of it.
We have already seen that the digital sphere is the only way to sustain a business in the CO-VID era. The digital sector is reverberating in India, and the right consciousness will make enterprises to prosper more.
What is the future of Digital Marketing in India after CO-VID?
The CO-VID period has made people more addicted to their phones. Therefore, we see people having their YouTube channels, who earlier did not know about cooking. Moreover, as I mentioned earlier, the only way to survive for different professional sectors in this pandemic has been the digital presence.
Therefore, people are now aware of the importance of digital presence for personal and professional branding.
The future seems quite good for digital marketing in India.
What are the challenges India must overcome to make itself a fully digitalized country?
As I mentioned earlier, we are already moving sleekly towards the process of digitalization. Therefore, there is not much of a challenge. However, if we can teach the BPL category people about its effectiveness, we will prosper quickly.
What are the future plans for your company?
Since the lockdown, we have performed very well. We have got some great international clients as well. Therefore, in the future, we are planning to set our company on foreign shores as well.
