Gyanvapi mosque: ASI begins extensive survey following Allahabad HC order; Muslim side abstains

News about the Gyanvapi mosque survey: To ascertain whether the mosque was built atop a temple, the ASI started a scientific survey at the site in Varanasi.A team from the Archaeological examination of India (ASI) started a scientific examination at the Gyanvapi premises in Varanasi on Friday morning to find out whether the mosque from the 17th century was built over the remains of a Hindu temple.A day after the Allahabad High Court upheld a district court decision and said that the proposed survey is “essential in the interest of justice” and will benefit both sides,” the survey was launched amid severe security measures.

Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee, a Muslim organisation, will not take part in the survey as it did on July 24, when it was suspended by the Supreme Court. The high court has directed the ASI to perform a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid without causing any harm to the mosque, according to the committee’s joint secretary SM Yasin. “On Thursday, the Supreme Court heard an appeal from the Anjuman Intazamiya Masjid challenging the ruling. He pleaded with the administrators to postpone the survey, saying, “Its hearing is scheduled for today.

Advocate Nizam Pasha brought up the case before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who was presided over a five-judge constitution bench hearing the arguments in the Article 370 issue and was getting ready to leave for the day. He requested an urgent hearing. “Today, the Allahabad High Court issued a ruling. We have submitted an SLP in opposition to the order. I sent an email asking for an urgent response. Let them not carry out the survey, Pasha commanded. The CJI said, “I will look at the email right away.” One of the Hindu parties also submitted a caveat to the Supreme Court asking that no decisions be made without first consulting them.
