Sharad Pawar, the leader of the party, may suffer another setback as he struggles to organise workers in light of the affidavit naming Ajit Pawar as the new NCP president.As the dissident wing, led by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, asserted that Sharad Pawar is no longer the party president, the heated struggle for control of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) took another unexpected turn. Ajit Pawar was chosen as the national president of the NCP by a “overwhelming majority” of MLAs and members of the organisational wing, according to an affidavit presented by the dissident camp to the Election Commission, according to ANI.
The vast majority of NCP members from the legislative and organisational wings signed a resolution dated June 30, 2023, which elected Ajit Anantrao Pawar as the party’s president. Praful Patel was and still is one of the NCP’s active presidents. According to the document, which was obtained by ANI, “The NCP also resolved to name Ajit Pawar as the head of the NCP Legislative Party in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and the aforementioned decision was also ratified by the resolution passed by an overwhelming majority of NCP MLAs.
