In conversation with Author Visunu Maharaja

Visunu Maharaja is from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. By profession, he is an Investor and Trader in the Indian Share Market. For the pure joy of storytelling, Visunu has indulged in writing stories. His debut novel Mr. Wife and Mrs. Husband narrates about the contrasting emotions of a lazy young man and an independent young lady, before and after marriage. Interview Times had a detailed conversation with Visunu, below are the excerpts,

Q1- What inspired you to write?

ANSWER: I think, being a lover of art. When you read lot of books, you end up trying to write. And when you taste the pleasure of writing, there is no going back. The same was with me.

Q2- How much time you usually spend in writing everyday/every week?

ANSWER: It depends. There are days when I write for 8 to 10 hours, and then are days I don’t write a single word. For me, writing has to come naturally. I like it that way. I don’t want to enforce it.

Q3- How do you source your plot ideas for your books?

ANSWER: Most of the time, the plot is based on a thesis that questions me or the society. The emotions of characters and its consequences also form the plot.

Q4- What difficulties do you face writing a book and how do you overcome them?

ANSWER: For me, there have been no difficulties. I consider writing as a pleasure. I do feel there are difficulties for a professional writer, I mean for a full-time writer.

Q5- What important things did you learned for your years of writing?

ANSWER: Writing, generally improves your creativity. When I write, I could self-evaluate my understandings and it makes my approach towards life easy. I think writing helps maintain a happy state of mind.

Q6- Apart from writing what are your hobbies?

ANSWER: Reading books, exploring films, music. There is good art and very little time to experience all of them. So, they have always been what I loved to do.

Q7- How do you choose your characters for your books?

ANSWER: There are no specifications. I just do it as the story makes me to. Some of the characters are based on real life. Some I characterize to take the plot to the next phase. Some, I choose because I want to share them.

Q8- What are your future ambitions?

ANSWER: I do want to write in Tamil. My next novel will be in English and Tamil.
