In Conversation with Doctor and Author Dr. Insiya

Dr. Insiya has received Editiorial director of the year 2021 and best project(Rotaract club of medicrew). She has written the book “Esoterica: the worlds connect “ and anthology of poems ‘supernova and another thousand things.’ She has several hobbies like classical literature, poetry, music, trekking. Let us know more about this person in this interview.

Q1) Since when did you start having interest in writing? Tell us something about your writing journey.

Ans: I have been writing since I was a naïve little twelve year old girl. I was fascinated with book series like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson and wanted to know how it would feel to create my own little world, where I could build and make my own rules, without any hindrance. It was some kind of escapism, if you will. It started out as simple Journaling, then came poetry and I eventually learnt more about writing and literature.

Q2) How did the idea of “Esoterica: the worlds connect” come to your mind. Tell us more about the plot of the book. Also share the link of the book.

Ans: Esoterica was a little girl’s attempt to create her own fantasy world, it was a collection of ideas I had incorporated from various books that were my favorite. The chosen one trope, the evil sorceress and a secret magical world. Esoterica follows the journey of fourteen year old Sophia Martin, and how she finds herself in the midst of an ancient war, with her being the only hope for survival of the world.

Q3) Tell us something about your hobbies. Have you mastered the art of managing your hobbies and your passion by now or you are still finding ways to do it?

Ans: I believe change is the only constant. One never attains perfection but is in a constant flux, and every day is another opportunity to get better, to grow. So, to answer this question, no I haven’t yet mastered balancing my hobbies with my profession. Some days, I really do have my lows and I second-guess everything. But what I know is, you have to fight for what you love, for what you believe in. and I believe that we are not made to be just stagnant. I want to propagate that you can have everything you want if you just have enough motivation.

Q4) From preparing the draft of the book, to selecting the cover page to publishing it, it is a process that requires total scrutiny and involvement. Tell us about your experience and were there any hardships that you faced in the process?

Ans : I think the hardest part is certainly not writing the book, but getting it into the market. The first part is the editing (and personally I am a massive self-critic, so I’m never satisfied with myself), I think I edited the book more than five times, and maybe still there are mistakes I failed to notice. The second part is reviews, beta readers, the ones who provide the genuine and honest feedback, and help fine-tune the manuscript (this is more important for novels). A thousand changes need to be made after that. Cover page design is another art, and I’m really grateful for how the cover of my book turned out. Then there’s the copyright paperwork and the publishing process.

Q5) There is a large section of the youth who thinks of writing their solo book but lack the courage to do so . What is your advice to them?

Ans: As I always say,  in any of my performances, that the first and foremost thing is to begin somewhere. How can you aspire to reach a finish line if you’ve not yet marked your starting point? Begin first. roads open up, things fall into place, sometimes messily, but they do. Write your first story, even if its suboptimal, write another one. Put it into the world. And watch how it makes wonders.

Q6) Tell us more about your book “Supernova and Another Thousand Things .” How did you plan for the book and also attach the link for the purchase.

Supernova and another thousand things is an anthology of poems, pieces I’ve written over all these years combined into one book, it is divided into five parts- each a different theme. I had compiled this book three years ago, but couldn’t get it published then, and kept procrastinating. Finally, I’m thrilled to announce that it is out into the world.
