India’s Covid-19 Vaccination Application – ‘Co-Win’

India is all set for the vaccination program of COVID-19 as the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) has approved Serum Institute of India’s Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and initially developed Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for restricted emergency use.

But people are in a dilemma as they need to be provided with accurate information regarding the vaccination program’s whole process system.  As per the report, the first phase of vaccination will be given to the frontline workers and people above 50.

Even the Centre has introduced an application called ‘Co-Win’ – Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work, which will ensure smooth conduct of this massive vaccination process in India. People need to register through the application to get the vaccination for Coronavirus.

As per the reports, the application (Co-Win) is in the pre-product stage. As of now, the app is not yet fully ready and functional, so there is no use in downloading it. Registration of the ordinary people cannot be done for the COVID-19 vaccine as of now.

The government recently launched a challenge inviting the start-ups and IT experts to strengthen the Co-Win system. Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT Minister, also announced a 40 Lakh cash prize and 20 Lakh for the top two contestants.

The app has the data of health officials who will get the vaccination first, and over 75 Lakh health officials have registered. Once the app is completely operational, it will have four modules- user administrator module, beneficiary registration, vaccination, and beneficiary acknowledgment. The Co-Win app or website will provide users three options for registration — self-registration, individual registration, and bulk upload.

The vaccine’s cost for the ordinary people for one shot of SII’s vaccine or the Covaxin is not made public. But the vaccine will come free of cost for the frontline workers.
