By 2026, InterGlobe Enterprises hopes to launch an all-electric air taxi service throughout India thanks to a cooperation with Archer Aviation. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by both companies in order to secure regulatory permissions for this innovative project.Rahul Bhatia, Group Managing Director of InterGlobe Enterprises, and Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer of Archer, signed the Memorandum of Understanding to formally establish the alliance.
The proposed air taxi service would transport people quickly, aiming to transport people from Connaught Place in Delhi to Gurugram in 7 minutes, as opposed to the 60-90 minutes that it usually takes to travel the 27 kilometres by road.
In addition to air taxi operations, the partnership hopes to manage Archer’s aircraft, build vertiport infrastructure, and provide the required staff training alongside local partners.
Furthermore, this collaboration will help finance the purchase of up to 200 of Archer’s Midnight aircraft, which are electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles with four seats that can take off and land quickly with little waiting time between charges. With this creative partnership, InterGlobe Enterprises—which is well-known for its involvement in a variety of industries, including aviation, hospitality, logistics, airline management, travel commerce, advanced pilot training, and aircraft maintenance engineering—is poised to lead the way in sustainable and cutting-edge transportation solutions.
