Sena-UBT head Uddhav Thackeray said here on Tuesday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will soon unveil a unified electoral manifesto of the three allies, the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party-SP, and the Shiv Sena-UBT. At the release of a song to popularize his party’s “Flaming Torch” symbol, which was first assigned for a by-election and then given to his party until January 24, he stated that the proposed joint manifesto will incorporate all the Maharashtra-related aspects found in the Congress documents released last week. Meanwhile, the (undivided) Shiv Sena name and symbol of “Bow and Arrow” were given to the party currently led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
With an air of confidence that the MVA will easily win all 48 Maharashtra Lok Sabha seats, Thackeray restated that the “Flaming Torch” has reached every corner of the state and promised to “reduce to ashes the dictatorial regime of the Bharatiya Janata Party.” In response to a query regarding Congress rebel Vishal P. Patil’s repeated nominations to challenge SS-UBT nominee Chandrahar Patil for the Sangli Lok Sabha seat, Thackeray stated that each MVA partner bears the personal responsibility of preventing dissension inside their group.
“The MVA allies held a joint press conference last week and announced the seat-distribution formula… Now, if there is a rebellion, then the partner concerned put a check on such activities,” he said.
There are still rumors circulating among the allies regarding the seat distribution deal, which is concerning. The SS-UBT is running for 21 seats, the Congress for 17, and the NCP-SP for the remaining ten.
