New Delhi, August 25, 2026: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its investigation into an alleged cyber-terrorism conspiracy linked to Operation Sindoor, conducting searches at five locations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi. The searches were carried out on Monday as investigators examined people suspected of supporting an earlier cyberattack operation.

The case relates to alleged sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks against 54 websites belonging to Indian government organisations during the period of Operation Sindoor. Investigators say the attacks targeted important government computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), with the alleged intention of compromising national security and creating public fear.

The searches took place in Junnar in Pune district, Maharashtra; Nadiad in Kheda district, Gujarat; Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, Telangana; Gopalganj in Bihar; and Delhi. The case was originally registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad and later taken up by the NIA.

The agency said two accused have already been arrested. During the investigation, technical analysis allegedly helped investigators identify additional suspects who may have provided support, assistance or technical training connected to the attempted attacks.

During Monday’s searches, NIA teams seized three laptops, five mobile phones, pen drives and other digital devices, along with documents allegedly containing material connected to hacking activities. The suspects were also questioned about their links with those already arrested.

The investigation is now focused on examining the seized devices and determining the full extent of the alleged network. The case is significant because it shows how cyberattacks on government digital systems are increasingly being treated as national-security threats, rather than merely conventional hacking incidents.
