No respite as Delhi’s AQI drops into ‘severe’

On Thursday evening, the overall Air Quality Index in Delhi was 404, placing it in the “severe” category, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). At the Dwarka sector-8 station, PM 2.5 was 469 and PM 10 was 470, both in the “severe” category, while CO was 134, in the “moderate” category.

The Anand Vihar station, on the other hand, was in the “very poor” category, with PM 2.5 at 305 and PM 10 at 191, both in the “moderate” range, and NO2 at 73, in the “satisfactory” range, according to the CPCB, at 6 p.m. PM 2.5 levels at the Bawana station were 352, in the “very poor” category, and PM 10 levels were 238, in the “poor” category, while CO levels were 78, in the “satisfactory” category, and NO2 levels were 18, in the “good” category.

The air quality at Indira Gandhi International Airport T3 was in the “poor” category, with PM 2.5 at 287 and PM 10 at 146 in the “moderate” category, and CO at 61 in the “satisfactory” category. The PM 2.5 level at Jahangirpuri was 379, while the PM 10 level was 388, putting both in the “very poor” category. However, CO was at 102, indicating “moderate” levels, and NO2 was at 22, indicating “good” levels. The AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good,” 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate,” 201-300 “poor,” 301-400 “very poor,” and 401-500 “severe.”
