The Odisha Legislative Assembly’s budget session is scheduled to begin on February 17 with a speech by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati. The assembly secretariat’s draft schedule states that the Governor’s Address will open the meeting, which will then go on to debates on the Motion of Thanks and the eagerly awaited presentation of the annual budget for the fiscal year 2026–2027.
There will be plenty of time for legislative discussions since the session will go until April 8. On February 20, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who is in charge of the Finance position, will deliver the state budget. This important occasion is anticipated to reveal the government’s financial goals, including funding for social welfare programs, infrastructure, and development.
Subsequently, the Appropriation Bill—authorising withdrawals from the Consolidated Fund to fund the government’s spending as indicated in the budget—will be tabled on March 31. The assembly will retire for a break from February 25 to March 8 after the budget presentation, which will be followed by general debates on February 23 and 24.
