Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Tables Vote-On-Account Of Rs 95,000 Cr; House Adjourned Till Aug 20

Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, presented a vote-on-account in the State Assembly on Wednesday in order to pay for various government expenses in August and September. With a budget of Rs 95,000 crore, Majhi—who also oversees finance—presented the Odisha Appropriation (Vote-on-Account) Bill-2024. This is the state’s second vote-on-account for the 2024–25 budget year.

In light of the impending Odisha Assembly elections, the first vote-on-account was held in February for the first four months of the same fiscal year. On July 25, the comprehensive budget was introduced by Mohan Charan Majhi, the leader of the State administration.For this reason, the government must provide for funding for August and September. September 10 is when the Appropriations Bill for 2024–25 would be introduced, according to CM Majhi, who made this announcement during a vote on accounts.

Thirty percent of the vote is on the account for revenue expenditures, forty percent is on capital expenditures, and the remaining five percent is for disaster management, social security. This will enable resources to be provided for the government’s different programs. According to CM Majhi, it will support the ongoing emergency work. Following the vote-on-account, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 10.30 am on August 20, thereby ending the first part of the budget session.
