Reviewing the Kharif paddy procurement procedure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi placed special emphasis on the implementation of the higher Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 3,100 per quintal. The state’s farmers stand to gain from the initiative, as a record one crore metric tons of paddy were purchased this year. The Chief Minister gave the order to streamline the Mandis paddy purchase procedure in order to assist farmers. In order to keep the grains that have been gathered safely, he also emphasized the significance of building sufficient warehouses.
Presently, 68 lakh metric tons of rice are produced in the state. Within 24 to 48 hours of procurement, farmers receive payments immediately into their bank accounts. Biometric and Aadhaar linkage technologies have been developed to improve transparency. The e-Vahan software allows for GPS tracking of procurement vehicles.
Furthermore, during grain collection, a “Automatic Grain Analyser” device will assess grain quality. To speed up the process, representatives from the departments of Revenue, Panchayatiraj, Food Supply, and Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment will undertake field-level inspections.
