Odisha DGP Reviews Law And Order

Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha, inspected the state’s law and order situation on Sunday and gave top officials instructions to increase public safety measures, enhance police-public collaboration, and step up crime control efforts. The DGP evaluated important policing metrics, like as crime trends, investigative effectiveness, and field-level response, while presiding over a high-level review meeting at the DGP Camp Office in Bhubaneswar. He emphasized that all districts must adopt a more proactive, goal-oriented police strategy.

In order to reduce crime and boost public trust in the police system, the DGP directed Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Range IGs/DIGs to take stern and focused action. He emphasized the significance of prompt response and visible policing in high-crime regions. Khurania placed a strong emphasis on capacity building and mandated that all employees working in Emergency reaction Vehicles (ERVs) get professional and hands-on training to increase their effectiveness and reaction time in an emergency.

Additionally, he mandated that all police stations have “Briefing Parades” every day before nine in the morning. According to the DGP, in order to enhance operational preparedness, these briefings should be followed by organized talks on updates on law and order, criminal activity, sensitive areas, and current investigations. In terms of crime control measures, the DGP mandated that Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) be executed quickly, that the National Security Act (NSA) be strictly enforced against infamous and persistent criminals, and that the state-wide crackdown on drug trafficking networks be stepped up.

In order to reduce public annoyance and crime-related occurrences, he also ordered more beat patrols inside police station boundaries, improved highway surveillance, and special drives. In order to guarantee prompt arrest, in-depth investigation, and prompt prosecution, senior officials were urged to keep a careful eye on major crimes, especially murder cases. Additionally, within the following 15 days, the DGP requested that police authorities begin public awareness campaigns emphasizing the positive role, quick response, and service-oriented work of the police. The conference was attended by senior personnel such as Director General of Police, CID-CB Vinaytosh Mishra, Director of Intelligence R.P. Koche, and Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar.
