Odisha Govt Sets Up Central Control Room To Ensure Seamless Paddy Procurement

By putting in place a strong monitoring system for the paddy procurement procedure, the Odisha government has taken important actions to protect farmers’ interests. By making all the required preparations, the government hopes to guarantee that no qualified farmer has problems during the procurement procedure. The Odisha State Civil Supply Corporation has set up a Central Control Room in order to do this. By prioritizing farmers’ interests and rapidly addressing any inconsistencies, this service allows farmers to file complaints right away by calling the toll-free number 1967. Nodal officials have also been assigned to each mandi to oversee operations and guarantee seamless operation.

The control room has been keeping a careful eye on mandis in every district. It processed around 6.5 lakh calls between November 1, 2024, and January 15, 2025, including incoming, outgoing, and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) interactions. More over 1,04,000 calls came in, most of which had to do with token creation. More than 1,12,000 calls were made, mostly to confirm sharecroppers’ information and get input from farmers. Additionally, IVRS was used to make around 4,29,000 calls, of which about 3,15,000 had to do with tokens.

The Odisha government’s dedication to openness and effectiveness in paddy procurement is seen in this centralized approach. Both the Kharif and Rabi seasons will see the control room remain open, guaranteeing prompt grievance resolution and safeguarding the interests of the farming community.
