Odisha Govt Waives Land Conversion Fee & Rent For MSME Sector

The Odisha government’s decision to exclude the MSME sector from paying land conversion fees and rent is a huge relief to business owners establishing small and medium-sized enterprises. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari made the announcement Friday, stating that entrepreneurs establishing micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in the state are no longer need to apply for land conversion or pay associated fees.

Until now, MSME owners have been paying 1% of the benchmark land value as a conversion fee and an extra 1% in rent instead. As of right now, the state government has waived both charges. However, this feature will only be accessible to units that have been authorized by the relevant district-level committee and are registered on the federal government’s MSME site.

Land situated in defense, archaeological, or protected zones shall not be eligible for the exemption. According to the Minister, the government would reclaim the allocated land if an entrepreneur departs from the stated industrial objective. According to officials, the action is anticipated to promote industrial growth throughout the state and lessen the financial burden on investors in the MSME sector.
