In partnership with the Information and Awareness Trust at the Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre (GKCMORC) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati launched the inaugural edition of the themed magazine “Kahuchi Odisha” and its online platform. Speaking at the event, the governor called the effort a platform for authors, philosophers, and young minds, describing it as more than simply a newspaper. He emphasized that these kinds of projects are essential to improving the richness, significance, and variety of the Odia language.
Dr. Kambhampati highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural legacy and stated that a community’s identity is defined by its language, traditions, customs, and history. He pointed out that Odia, one of the oldest classical languages in India, contains centuries’ worth of knowledge and intellectual heritage. He went on to say that Odisha’s unique cultural identity is reflected in its festivals, literature, art, heritage sites, maritime past, natural beauty, and Lord Jagannath’s philosophy.
The Governor emphasized that maintaining this legacy calls for both active nurturing and admiration. A meaningful identity is fostered by a deep connection to one’s ancestry, he noted, adding that language and culture are dynamic resources that must change while maintaining authenticity. The Governor praised the Information and Awareness Trust’s effort and noted that the inaugural issue’s title, “Odia Asmitara Antahswar,” perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Odia identity. He also mentioned how the language is becoming more widely used and relevant thanks to internet platforms.
