Odisha Rain: Rain to intensify, IMD issues Yellow Warning

As informed by the India Meteorological Department, Odisha is likely to witness enhanced rainfall where several districts in the state may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

According to the official reports, the Regional Met Centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar stated that heavy rainfall would continue to lash one or two places in several districts of Odisha in the next 4 to 5 days. In its evening bulletin dated September 4, the weather agency issued a Yellow Alert for 23 districts with a forecast of thunderstorm activities. According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Similarly, the Yellow Alert has also been issued for the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Balasore for the next 24 hours.

The Met office has predicted heavy rainfall for one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada.

According to IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Bhatinda, Rohtak, and Shahjahanpur and the eastern end run along the foothills of the Himalayas. This apart from the north-south trough persists from southeast Madhya Pradesh to the Comorin area across Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
