Odisha has become the second state in the country to handle the maximum number of COVID tests per day million population, performing 1,265 tests per million people. The Ministry of Health, Government of India, informed the details about States and Union Territories performing more than 140 COVID tests per day per million populations.
Devising behind many larger States in the Country, Odisha is now far ahead of the National Average that stands at 580. Odisha is much ahead of the National average of India by an additional 685 COVID tests per day per million populations.
Odisha ramped up testing to collect 50000 samples in a day to which the decreasing positivity rate is to 5.5 per cent from 9.2 per cent. States like Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are far behind to the numbers of Odisha.
Madhya Pradesh is at 244 daily tests per million population, Rajasthan at 309, West Bengal at 365, Bihar at 408, Kerala at 534, Punjab at 546 and Maharashtra at 579.
Due to the growing daily COVID testing to more than 50000 tests per day, Odisha has now become a role model for the other larger States in COVID testing. With these numbers, Odisha will lead to quick identification and isolation of COVID19 positive cases.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik shared his gratitude via Twitter- “Odisha has emerged second leading state in the country by conducting 1,265 tests per million per day, compared to the national average of 580 as per the MoHFA. Odisha has been consistently ramping up tests for the identification and treatment of Covid-19 positive cases.”
A Press Release by the State Government stated that “Odisha is a role model for the nation and globally in the handling of the Covid battle and the recent information on Covid testing by Union Government, placing Odisha in 2nd position in India is just another initiative of the Odisha Government to win the war against Covid.”
