Odisha Set To Lead In Chemicals & Petrochemicals: CM Majhi

The state’s increasing significance in the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, propelled by expanding demand from key sectors like steel and aluminum, was emphasized by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Speaking at the “India Chem 2024” conference in Mumbai, Majhi stressed that the state of Odisha’s goals in this area are centered on the Petroleum, Chemicals & Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) in Paradeep. The PCPIR center, which is ideally situated close to Paradeep Port, has a robust supply chain that connects businesses to international markets, giving it a considerable competitive edge.

“Odisha is witnessing exponential growth in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector, and we are actively exploring other high-potential areas for investment,” the Chief Minister stated.

Majhi also emphasized the state’s initiatives to draw capital into the technical textile, packaging, by-product recycling, plastics, and specialty chemical industries—all of which are seeing rising demand on a national and worldwide scale. He ascribed these prospects to Odisha’s wealth of natural resources, good industrial ecology, and wide range of connections, which establish the state as a prime location for fresh investments.

“As global demand for chemicals rises, Odisha is poised to play a pivotal role, not just for India but on the world stage. I invite investors to explore the vast opportunities Odisha has to offer and become part of our growth story. Together, we can unlock new possibilities and contribute to the shared vision of a Viksit Odisha,” Majhi concluded.
