At a meeting held today at Lok Seva Bhawan under the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the State government completed the Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines-2025, marking a major stride in the promotion of tourism. In keeping with the state’s “Think India, Think Odisha” strategy, the project seeks to establish Odisha as a top adventure travel destination. To guarantee that Odisha is the first place that travelers think of when they visit India, Chief Minister Majhi underlined that adventure tourism would be fostered.
The guidelines are part of a broader strategy to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat-2047 vision, with tourism identified as a priority sector. The state plans to map and develop adventure tourism sites across all 30 districts, leveraging Odisha’s natural beauty and thrilling landscapes. Key projects include rafting in Satkosia and hot air balloon tourism over Hirakud, with similar facilities planned for other locations.
By offering training and certification for adventure tourism activities on land, in the air, and on the sea, the guidelines also aim to provide job prospects for young people in Odisha. Through the “Go Adventure” site, the program is anticipated to encourage private sector engagement and create a substantial number of job opportunities. Under the Odisha Tourism Policy-2022, the state would provide incentives to entice investment with the goal of making Odisha a competitive tourism destination on a worldwide scale.
Manoj Ahuja, the chief secretary, and Balwant Singh, the commissioner-turned-secretary of the tourism department, attended the meeting. The action demonstrates the State government’s resolve to make Odisha a premier destination for adventure travel.
