Odishan Tribal Painting Exhibition Inaugurated In Dubai

In its humble way, the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, under the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Government of Odisha, with the inspiration of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has endeavored for the first time to provide tribal artists a platform to express themselves and to showcase glimpses of the rich aesthetic sense of ethnic tribes. The goal is to foster the cultural heritage of Odishan tribal art and to provide a scope for tribal artists to have an exposure visit.

In front of a worldwide audience, fifteen tribal painters from Odisha created their individual paintings, which they displayed at the Hyatt Place Dubai Al Rigga. During the exhibition’s opening, Satish Kumar Shivan, the consul general of India in Dubai, said that the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi’s efforts are admirable. The event was presided over by Padamashree Sudarsan Pattnaik, President of the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, an international sand artist.

The artwork is inspired by the tribal culture of Odisha, particularly that of the Sauras, Santhals, Kolhas, and Kandhas, whose paintings are an integral element of their joyous celebrations. Participating were fifteen tribal artists from the districts of Rayagada, Koraput, Mayurbhanja, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh in Odisha, who used acrylic paints on canvases.

Artists Soubhagya Manjari Mallick, Dolly Jani, Binodini Behera, Suryalata Nayak, Subhadra Karoa, Sukumati Thiu, Bharati Tudu, Sujanamati Ekka, Indira Gamango, Anil Kerketta, Junesh Gamango, Jogi Sabaro, Samsan Gamango, Santosh Kumar Singh Khuntia and Rajendra Singh Laguri had participated and were felicitated on the occasion.
