The candidates said the discussion was productive and that they were “pleased with how things are going.” They also stated, however, that they would not give up until the deserving applicants received appointment letters.A GROUP OF protesters who have been calling for teaching jobs and raising awareness of “irregularities” in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment process met with State Education Minister Bratya Basu on Monday, describing the meeting as “positive.”
They have been protesting for more than 500 days. This was the protesting SSC candidates’ second encounter with the education minister. On July 29, they met in his office on Camac Street where he assured them that justice would be served. Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC national general secretary, was also present.The candidates said the discussion was productive and that they were “pleased with how things are going.” They also stated, however, that they would not give up until the deserving applicants received appointment letters. “Nearly 6,000 merit lists exist. Those who appeared on these merit lists must find employment. The minister said that the employment process will soon begin. But we’ll keep up the nonviolent demonstration. We will end the protest once we receive the appointment letters, said Shahidullah, who brought an eight-person group of SSC hopefuls to the conference.
