Restrictions imposed on export of Sugar

Following a fortnight of banning wheat exports and continuing with fiscal policy measures to combat domestic inflation, the government announced Tuesday that sugar exports would be restricted beginning June 1 and that duty-free imports of 20 lakh metric tonnes of crude soyabean oil and crude sunflower oil would be permitted for two fiscal years (2022-23 and 2023-24). The Centre is controlling sugar exports for the first time in six years. The change will take effect on June 1.
