Rohit Sharma starts his permanent white ball captaincy tenure with a great series win against the West Indies. While India faced a 3-0 whitewash against South Africa, a month back under the captaincy of Lokesh Rahul, India whitewashed West Indies in the 3 ODI series against West Indies under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
While the Indian top order did not have a fruitful run in the series along with captain Rohit Sharma, it was good contribution from middle and lower order batsman like KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar and Deepak Hooda which helped India to put par scores in all the three matches.
However, it was the series of fast bowlers and spinners which won India the series. Chahal, Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Wshington Sundar all bowled tremendously well. However, it was the fast and accurate bowling of Prasidh Krishna in all the three matches which became the X factor in the series. He was also judged as the man of the series taking 9 wickets in 3 matches.
The T20 series against the same team will start on February 16th. India are scheduled to play 3 T20’s against West Indies on 16, 18, and 20th of February in Kolkata.
