The State Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Agency welcomed up to 115 newly hired Assistant Fisheries Officers. The state convention center in Lok Seva Bhavan hosted an orientation event for the new hires.
Chief Minister Navven Patnaik told the newly hired officers through a virtual platform that Assistant Fisheries Officers should serve as facilitators, encourage people to engage in fishing, and support efforts to increase their income. He urged them to operate in a mission mode to assist Odisha move up to the number 1 position in fish production, noting that the state is now ranked fourth in the nation for fish output.
Speaking extensively about the 5T initiative, he claimed that the goal of the project is to alter the state by implementing the principles of time, teamwork, technology, and transparency. It enables you to work intelligently by utilizing technology to connect with people more quickly and offer better answers in an open way. If we want to move our state into a critical position, we can’t just settle for incremental improvements; we must pursue transformative ones, he continued.
He anticipated that the new officials will work honestly, adhere to the 5T principles, and make an effort to improve the lives of fish farmers. Commenting on the expansion of the fisheries industry in the state, he asserted that aquaculture is a key industry for improving the socioeconomic conditions of people living in rural areas by fostering increased income, employment possibilities, and food and nutritional security. The fishing industry in Odisha has grown significantly during the past 20 years. During the past 20 years, fish output in the state has roughly quadrupled, reaching over 10 lakh metric tons in the most recent fiscal year. He stated that during the same period, seafood exports to the state increased twelvefold.
