Q1) Namaste Mehul, Welcome to out series Talking about the Power Hanuman Chalisa. Tell us a bit about the origin of this text.
Ans : Chalisa means a couplet of 40 verses, written by Tulsidas in local Awadhi language. The origin of Hanuman chalisa is uncertain but as per popular narrative, Once Akbar called Tulsidas in his assembly and asked him to introduce himself to Lord Ram. To which Tulsidas replied that Lord Shri Ram gives darshan only to his devotees. Hearing this, Akbar imprisoned Tulsidas; It was in the prison, Tulsidas wrote Hanuman Chalisa. As soon as the work of writing Hanuman Chalisa was completed, monkeys surrounded Fatehpur Sikri and attacked it. Akbar’s army also failed to stop the menace of monkeys. Then on an advice of a minister Akbar freed Tulsidas from prison. As soon as Tulsidas was released, the monkeys left the whole area.
Q2) Since you have talked about the origin do tell us about who can do the Sadhana of Hanuman Chalisa and how is it done?

Ans : Sadhana has two meanings: realization and goal. Therefore, any form of sadhana is pursued with the goal of achieving realization. When it comes to Hanuman Chalisa sadhana, anyone can perform it. One simply needs to make a sankalpa, which is a vow regarding the number of recitations, and then work diligently to fulfil that vow. However, according to certain beliefs, women are not supposed to engage in Hanuman sadhana, and there are mantras that women are advised not to chant. Nevertheless, when it comes to the sadhana of Hanuman Chalisa, women can certainly participate without any restrictions. The Chalisa is in mode of devotion and glorification, therefore it does not carry any specific rules or limitations. It is only certain tantrik mantras that have specific restrictions. Additionally, it is recommended for women to avoid performing any sadhana during menstruation. They can modify their recitation schedule so that they complete the sadhana before their menstrual cycle begins.

Q5) Is there any message you want to give to the youth, on how spirituality is helpful in shaping the youth?
Ans : Today I feel the youth is lost and has no goal in life, the life is so fast that people do not have time to spend with their family. I feel spirituality can be immensely beneficial in shaping the lives of the youth. Spirituality encourages the youth to embark on a journey of self-discovery, and motivate them to develop a strong sense of self, leading to increased self-awareness, clarity, and personal growth. Spirituality emphasizes universal values such as compassion, kindness, integrity, and respect. By embracing these values, the youth can cultivate a strong moral compass, guiding their actions and decisions in a positive and ethical direction. Spirituality provides tools and practices for managing emotions, reducing stress, and finding inner peace, along with a strong sense of discipline. It teaches techniques like meditation, chanting, and gratitude, which can support the youth in developing emotional resilience, coping with challenges, and fostering a sense of well-being. By recognizing their shared humanity, the youth can develop empathy, tolerance, and a sense of belonging, fostering harmonious relationships and contributing to a more inclusive and compassionate society.
The aim and objective of human life is self-realization and the reestablishment of our lost relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. we are always rendering service to someone, either to our family, country or society. Then why can’t we render service to the supreme god. I have seen people complaining of challenges of life and questioning how difficult things are. To which if one surrenders to the supreme god, then all these things will seem petty and small. I always say that “Have faith and lord arranges” if there is a challenge and things are not moving, then have faith and god will arrange. If things are not in our favour we needed not be disheartened, as we may be short-sighted but god is far sighted he knows what is best for us. God is our primal parent, just as a mother stops a child from eating mud, or touching a flame; similarly, god protects us from things that may not be good for us. Remember, spirituality is a personal journey, and each individual may resonate with different aspects or practices. It is important for the youth to explore various spiritual paths and find what resonates with them personally. It is recommended to recite any stotra, chant mantras or read but the glories of gods as mentioned in ancient texts to help youth discover their path. One may also light a lamp every day and one will embark on the spiritual journey.
