Tanisha Crasto-Dhruv Kapila Clinch Mixed Doubles Title At Odisha Masters 2023

Here at the JN Indoor Stadium, home of the Odisha Masters 2023, the incredible team of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila won the Mixed Doubles title. Tanisha Crasto-Dhruv Kapila, an Indian pair, faced Hee Yong Kai Terry and Tan Wei Han Jessica, two Singaporeans, in the first Final of the day. In the opening game, the Singaporean pair put up a strong fight to tie the scores after the Indian pair got off to a strong start.

Tan Wei Han Jessica and Hee Yong Kai Terry led 11–9 at the half. Dhruv and Tanisha managed to regain their rhythm and tie the game at 16-16, but the Singaporean duo quickly overtook them, putting the Indians on the defensive and winning the opening game 21-17. Both teams engaged in protracted rallies in the second game, with the Indian pair leading 11-9 at the half. Tanisha-Dhruv dominated the first game, winning 15–11, then winning the second 21–19 to send the match to a penalty shootout.

The Indian duo maintained their lead and began to exert pressure on the Singaporean duo in the decisive match. However, the Singaporean duo battled back to take an 11-9 lead into halftime. Following the switch of teams, the Indian duo took control of the match and went on to win 23–21 to secure the Mixed Doubles championship. In the meantime, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose of Indonesia defeated Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto of India in the Women’s Double final with scores of 21-14 and 21-17.

Both sides gave it their all in the opening game, with Tanisha controlling the net and Ashwini showcasing her skills. Despite a fierce battle from the Indonesian duo, Indonesia led 11–8 at the half. Following the switch of teams, the Indonesian duo led 19–15 and won the opening game 21–14.

The Indian pair began to feel the pressure in the second game, and as a result, they gave the Indonesian pair easy points. With a 6-1 lead, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose put the Indian duo on the back foot. However, the Indian duo regained their rhythm and began to exert pressure on the Indonesian duo. The score was 11-8 in favor of Indonesia at the half. After that, the Indonesian duo prevailed 21–17 in the second game to win the championship.
