The C-295 transport aircraft will be produced in Gujarat by a partnership led by the Tata group and an Airbus joint venture, the government announced on Thursday. The project will cost a total of 21,935 crore.
In September of last year, the Cabinet Committee on Security gave its approval for the purchase of 56 C-295 cargo planes from Airbus for the Indian Air Force in a transaction estimated to be worth $2.5 billion.
Under the agreement, Airbus will deliver the first 16 aircraft in’ fly– away’ condition from its final assembly line in Seville, Spain within four times and the posterior 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by the Tata Advanced Systems( TASL) in India as part of an artificial cooperation between the twocompanies.The nonsupervisory blessing for the ambitious programme was accorded by the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance( DGAQA) last week.
European aeronautics major Airbus had earlier said that it has entered the nonsupervisory blessing from the Indian controller for its C295 aircraft programme, getting the first foreign original outfit maker to get such a nod.As part of the contract, 16 aircraft will be delivered in flyaway condition and 40 will be manufactured in India by the Indian Aircraft Contractor, Tata Consortium of Tata Advanced Systems Limited( TASL) and Tata Consultancy Services( TCS) led by TASL, defence clerk Ajay Kumar said Addressing a press conference in New Delhi.
The Airbus Defence and Space Quality Management System( QMS) for the C295 aircraft has entered blessing from the DGAQA, Indian nonsupervisory authority for aeronautical quality assurance, the aerospace major said in a statement.
” This is the first time a QMS of a foreign aircraft manufacturer has been approved by DGAQA,” it said.
