Previously, for three years between 2014–15 and 2016–17, CBSE tested an Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) for the exams of Classes 9 and 11.According to the Indian Express, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) suggested that Open Book Examinations (OBE) be considered for students in classes 9 through 12, in accordance with the guidelines of the most recent National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
The report states that later this year, for Classes 9 and 10, English, Mathematics, and Science, and Classes 11 and 12, English, Mathematics, and Biology, a pilot programme of open-book exams has been proposed by CBSE in a few schools. This was suggested in order to find out how the stakeholders responded and how long it took the students to finish these kinds of exams.
The trial is scheduled to take place in November and December of this year, after which the CBSE will decide whether to use this type of evaluation in all of its schools for students in Classes 9 through 12. In addition, CBSE has chosen to confer with Delhi University (DU), according to the Indian Express article.
