The COVID pandemic has made lives on a peril in which the whole Nation is struggling. With the past couple of weeks, the twin cities are facing the mounting case of virus-infected persons like a wildfire.
The COVID-19 tally in Cuttack has reached 300 marks with 19 fresh cases being reported in the last 24 hours. With this alarming situation, the Commissionerate of Police has decided that all the police personnel must improve their fitness and have ordered mandatory fitness management for its policemen in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Twin City police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi stated that the pandemic situation is getting graver and it is very important that these personals should remain fit as police personal staffs work in the front foot so that the public remains safe and at any cost, their fitness level shouldn’t be harmed.
“Those not taking the directive seriously will face action. Penalties like no increment and forced retirement on health grounds will be handed to such violating policemen,” he said in the letter.
According to Body Mass Index, all the staff of Commissionerate police will be monitored which helps to measure their fat deposits based on their height from next week onward.
This will be three-month deadlines for the overweight cops with a BMI of more than 30 and will be trained to be in shape. According to the commissioner, this process will be completed by 30th July and the database will be kept in the police hospital.
Anyone who failed to reduce their weight by November, a 6 week fresher course on body fitness and exercise will be launched. In this course, the unfit personals will compulsory exercise every morning and will maintain a proper diet.
The cops will be intimated in written about their present BMI and what should the ideal weight. Sudhanshu Sarangi is making sure that being fit should be the compulsory agenda of all the police personnel and there should follow all the strict regulations and the disciplinary rules to remain physically fit.
