Oftentimes the rhythm of life drowns the whisper of inner peace and our captivating soul ventures on a quest to orchestrate the symphony of serenity. A balance of mind and body is very essential during such times. There are people who come forward to help other people in this endeavour in this uncertain world. Meet Tapaswini Swain, a Communication Specialist whose professional prowess is only rivalled by her unwavering commitment to the art of living. In a world where the cacophony of daily existence often drowns the melodies of the heart, Tapaswini has dedicated her life to teaching the harmony of happiness.
As an Art of Living teacher, she offers precious glimpses into the transformative power of the Happiness program, crafted by the venerable Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Amidst the tapestry of life’s complexities, Tapaswini has found her calling – to awaken smiles, illuminate minds, and guide seekers on a journey to wisdom and fulfilment. In an exclusive interview, Tapaswini shares her story, wisdom, and the profound impact of the Art of Living’s Happiness program on her life and the lives of countless others.
Interviewer: Can you tell us about your journey into the world of the Art of Living and the Happiness program?
Tapaswini: Certainly! My journey into the world of the Art of Living began in 2009 when I decided to embark on the Happiness program. Those six days were nothing short of a revelation. They completely shifted my perception of life and altered the way I viewed the world. I emerged as a new person, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. The Sudarshan Kriya, a simple yet powerful breathing technique, opened my eyes to the profound connection between breath, meditation, and a happy, content, and successful life. It was during this program that I had a profound realization – a shift from ‘What about me?’ to ‘What can I contribute?’
Q: Mental health and happiness have become increasingly vital in today’s world. How do you view their significance?
Tapaswini: Mental health and happiness are absolutely crucial, especially in the fast-paced world we live in today. Taking care of our mental well-being is of paramount importance. Being happy is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. I firmly believe that happiness is intricately linked to our breath and how we manage it. Breathing mindfully and being joyful can have a profound impact on our overall well-being.
Q: What inspired you to become an Art of Living teacher?
Tapaswini: The inspiration to become an Art of Living teacher came from the sheer exuberance and ecstasy I experienced during the Happiness program. The way my mentor teachers guided us to experience such bliss was awe-inspiring. Their unique combination of dynamism and poise left an indelible mark on me. From that day forward, I knew I wanted to share this life-transforming breathing technique with as many people as possible and make their lives a celebration.
Q: You’ve mentioned the importance of a holistic approach to life. Can you elaborate on this philosophy?
Tapaswini: Certainly. Life is not meant to be compartmentalized into work life, personal life, and professional life. It’s a seamless whole, and a happy and content mind can beautifully manage all aspects of life – family, relationships, work, and service. I see my work as a service to promote the mental well-being of people and contribute to creating a violence-free and stress-free society.
Q: You’ve mentioned Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as your greatest Guru. How has his guidance influenced your life?
Tapaswini: Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been my guiding light in life. His teachings on yoga and meditation have played a pivotal role in managing my work, life, and teaching. His wisdom has helped me achieve a disease-free body, high energy levels, a stress-free mind, and much more. Gurudev emphasizes the importance of having a mentor or guide in life, and he embodies that role perfectly. He is the guiding star that leads us from darkness to light, and I am deeply grateful for his guidance.
Q: In a world marred by violence and stress, what role do you believe yoga and meditation play in promoting mental well-being?
Tapaswini: In today’s divided and turbulent world, promoting mental well-being is of paramount importance. Yoga and meditation offer powerful tools to achieve this. These practices not only provide knowledge and positive thinking but also equip us with techniques to manage stress and anxiety effectively. They are the keys to unlocking inner peace and happiness.
Q: You’ve mentioned the three S’s – Sadhana, Seva, and Satsang. Can you share how these principles define the purpose of a fulfilling life?
Tapaswini: The three S’s are the pillars that define a fulfilling and meaningful life. Sadhana, which encompasses yoga and meditation, helps us nurture our inner selves. Seva, or selfless service, allows us to contribute positively to society. Satsang, being in the company of truth, keeps us grounded and connected to our purpose. When these three elements align, life becomes a journey filled with joy and purpose.
In the grand symphony of life, Tapaswini Swain stands as a conductor of joy, orchestrating a harmonious blend of happiness, mindfulness, and service. Her journey is a reminder that amidst the discordant notes of our daily existence, we possess the power to compose our own melodious narratives. As we bid adieu to her captivating story, let us remember that, like Tapaswini, we too have the potential to lead lives filled with purpose, wisdom, and the everlasting song of contentment. In the end, it is the smiles she brings and the lives she touches that define her journey, reminding us that happiness is not a destination but a beautiful journey of self-discovery and service to others.
